This weekend jlnministries was invited to the United States Football Association Super Bowl in Houston, Tx. We were very blessed to see two our old friends, the Texas Red Raiders & the Texas Colts in this 2nd year summer league classic. Both teams Owner, Coaches, Referee's, and Player's all welcomed us many player's and coaches we  have known from our many years of being associated with Semipro Football.  We saw 4 players we share National Honors with. A big shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell the owners of TUFA Texas United Football Association, we had a great visit with them. After praying with both teams and the referees. We settled into what we thought was going to be a very high scoring  game quickly became a  game was a tail of 2 halves. The first half was scoreless neither team budging not allowing any scoring opportunities.   The second half was a different game with the Raiders scoring  quickly and never looking bad. The Raider defense stoo...

Compelling

Image
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Paul gives us and example of a person that pushes us. Not in a bad way in a good way. Have you ever had a friend that pushed you into a situation only to back out and leave you hanging? The disciples dropped  everything they were doing to follow Him. Have you ever thought about this? Their livelihoods, their businesses and yes some cases their families. We are willing to drop everything for Jesus even to the point of taking a bullet so to speak.  Not because He compels us to do this, but because of what He has done for us. Amen

Unity

Image
Philippians 2:2  fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. The game we all played as a kid tug-of-war is all about capturing an maintaining power and balance. This is not all that different in the body of Christ. When we become united we are not individuals but one, our strength, weight, and force come together as one movement. Paul encourages us to unite because if we do the Holy Spirit will come upon the church in greater measure and the world will see the power of God. Amen

Zeal

Image
Romans 12:11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; In other versions the word zeal is used. "Do not be slothful in zeal,  but be fervent in spirit." The idea is not to be so zealous that we over do it so to speak. I knew a man that his son won the World Series of Pee Wee Baseball, and in his zealous state he was so excited to tell the world about the win that he forgot his son at the ball park. We are not called to be zealous in our own strength but what are we prepared to do "over the top" for God in the spirit. Amen

Intimacy

Image
For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love become the mark of maturity.  Colossians 3:14 Passion  God is our healer. He wants us to be close to Him. His desire is that our hearts be closely familiar with His. His specialty is ultimate intimacy, He so loves us and knows our very beings. Amen

Receptive

Image
“If you tenderly care for this little childx on my behalf, you are tenderly caring for me. And if you care for me, you are honoring my Father who sent me. The one who is least important in your eyes is actually the most important one of all.”  Luke 9:48 Passion Jesus was open to meeting with anyone. The poor, the oppressed,  the broken and turned away. But especially He was receptive to children. God restores, those who are responsive to His openness receive everything He promises.  When we realize our true place before a righteous and holy God, there is a longing to receive mercy and forgiveness. Only then can He become the high priestly sacrifice that we all need. Amen

Rational

Stay away from anger and revenge. Keep envy far from you, for it only leads you into lies. Psalm 37:8 Passion Boy does this speak to me. He was at meltdown point. The talking was not enough it was only getting worse. All balance and lucidity flushed away; he yelled like a toddler,  screaming out loud. But it is to no avail. It only last for seconds. Obscenities,  fears, overreaction all burst forth with no logical reason. It is no fun when your brain becomes unbalanced or over loaded. We misplace our sensibilities,  and rational thinking goes out the window. This is where God has given us the Holy Spirit to be with us, and to aid us in self-control and patience. Amen
